Saoirse Prendergast graduated from University College Dublin with an MPhil and has a BA in Theology and Philosophy and a Certificate in Counselling Skills from National University Ireland Maynooth. Her love of writing began when she completed a writing course in Kilkenny through NUIM. Saoirse is also a poet, some of which are included in an anthology published as part of the writing group.
Over the years, Saoirse has spent a lot of time on the East Coast of Canada, visiting family, which has influenced her decision to set her debut novel there.
An advocate for women’s rights, she challenges the misogyny that often exists in the judicial and legal system and general society towards women who experience domestic abuse and strives for greater education and awareness.
White Butterfly is Saoirse’s first novel which describes the devastating effects and impact of coercive control on a woman’s life.
Saoirse lives with her family in County Kilkenny.
